Uproot the weeds after it rains

It’s been a hot and dry July here in St. Catharines. The deep soaking rain yesterday came as a welcome relief for our thirsty plants. But so too for the weeds.  Frank, our Garden Coordinator, recommends getting at the weeds soon after it rains. It’s the perfect time to uproot the weeds before they get bigger and harder to get out. Just grab a hoe from the garden shed and do a thorough weeding of your entire garden. You don’t need to even bring the weeds to the pile–just leave them to dry up in the sun and they should give you no further problems. Then you can rest from that job until the next rain.
